Before You Hit Send: Your Wine Email Cheat Sheet

Sending an email for your wine brand is easy, right? You come up with an idea, put it in an email, and send it off to your subscribers—with resounding success!

If only it were that simple. But it’s not — and that’s actually a good thing! There are tons of ways we can refine and optimize your wine brand’s email strategy to make sure every piece you send hits home.

This list is *by no means* exhaustive, but it’s a quick reference to some of the things I always check before scheduling my client emails to make sure they perform their best:

✅ Is the subject line arresting, engaging, and hint at what’s to come? Will it stand out next to other subject lines? Did you set up an A/B test or optimize based on previous results?

✅ Does the preview text give an extra push as to why they should read more?

✅ Does the email have a headline or intro that speaks to your audience? Does it give them a reason to keep reading? (Is it interesting?)

✅ Does your email copy focus on what your audience wants and how your wine or service will benefit them? Are you using terminology they’ll understand?

✅ Have you checked for typos? (Double checked?)

✅ Have you checked that your hyperlinks or buttons are going to the right place?

✅ Are you using the same word(s) too many times? (tip: use command+F to check!)

✅ Are you saying the same thing multiple ways? Can you eliminate, edit, or combine anything?

✅ Are you sending it to the right subscriber segment(s)? (And have you cleaned your list yet?)

✅ Are you scheduling it for the best time/day for your audience and this type of email?

Sending successful emails for wine brands is a bit of an art, a bit of a science. There is a formula that works to an extent, but there’s also a bit of refining and finessing based on your unique brand and audience.

But if you’re asking yourself the right questions and making sure your content is firing on these fronts, you're setting up a solid foundation to see your ROI grow!
