The Content That Changed the Game For Me in 2024

2024 has been quite a year. While the economy and political climate went all over the place, I spent most of the year focusing on my business, my wedding, and my health/wellness.

It was a lot, to say the least, but my business has been making 5 figures/month, I’ve lost over 20 pounds and feel my healthiest and strongest, and my wedding was magical and unforgettable. I didn’t do it alone; there were some major pieces of content that truly guided me and got me through.

Here are nine things I consumed that pretty much changed my life this year:

1.) The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson

Highly recommended by the copywriting master Sarah Turner, this book is the best guide for designing and reaching your dream life. The trick is in all the tiny, boring steps that you do every day that compound over time. This book teaches you how to do it, and it’s changing my life every day.

2.) Pitch Anything by Oren Klaff

It was written by a guy who pitches multi-million dollar business deals, but his formula is powerful for anyone who finds themself needing to convince someone, anyone, or anything. Learn how to position yourself and what you offer for success.

3.) Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss

Written by a former hostage negotiator who learned how to hack emotions to get collaboration where and when it matters most. Even if you don’t need to negotiate every day for work, there are powerful takeaways for dealing with people in every relationship.

4.) Huberman Lab Episode with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon: “How to exercise and eat for optimal health and longevity”

I’m a diehard Huberman fan, but this episode was especially impactful for me. Dr. Lyon talks about the incredible importance of developing and strengthening skeletal muscle — particularly for women. This episode opened my eyes to vital nutrition and exercise that women overlook (because we’ve been told to) and following her tips has unquestionably changed my health.

5.) Huberman Lab Episode with Dr. Robert Lustig: “Nutrition and how processed foods and sugar affect your health”

Almost everything I thought I knew about nutrition was wrong. While some of these positions may seem extreme, this science-based discussion really got the wheels turning about what I eat and how it affects everything I do. Notably, cut out the sugar, no question. If you’re on a health journey like me, this will give you a kick in the butt.

6.) Huberman Lab Episode with Dr. Stacy Sims: “Female-specific exercise & nutrition for health, performance, and longevity”

Another banger of a health-focused episode, with eye-opening facts specifically for women. As you’ll learn, much of what’s recommended in the health arena is based around men’s bodies, not women’s, and it turns out women actually need a very different set of instructions.

7.) Huberman Lab Episode with Dr. Natalie Crawford: “Female Hormone Health, Fertility & Vitality”

Wow. After finishing this episode, I felt really let down by my public school health education, because now I realize I basically learned nothing about female reproductive health and the importance of hormones, among other things. Dr. Crawford does such an amazing job of explaining what women need to know about their own bodies, how to be your healthiest, and how to optimize your fertility.

8.) Planning My Own Wedding Wines

Ok this one’s a personal one. I poured so much time, energy and heart this year into planning not only a beautiful wedding but my dream wine tasting! I obsessed over which varieties we had to have, which well-known vs. little-known labels would be fun to include, which of my own favorites I had to share with guests, how to position new discoveries that I wanted people to try… It was probably overkill, and that’s ok. I wouldn’t have been happy with it any other way. And I put everything into a blog post so it will live on forever lol.

9.) Daily Meditations with Calm

If I can give myself just 10 minutes a day to sit quietly, clear my mind, and breathe, it makes a world of difference in the long run. I’m not saying I do it everyday, but I’m always glad after when I’ve made the time for it.
